Our first GPS/4G module obtains position within thirty seconds of a cold start. The combination of Ignion’s Virtual Antenna© Technology and Nordic’s nRF9160 is surprisingly efficient and compact as it dynamically handles LTE-M, NB-IoT (700-960 MHz + 1710-2200 MHz LTE) and GPS in a very small footprint. We have deployed more than 100 units out of a 600 series and, so far, the result is excellent.
The next step is to obtain Atex certification (Explosive Atmospheres), which was forbidden in our previous version of GPS/GPRS due to its higher power consumption.
